Firstly, let’s all take a moment to appreciate how beautiful this tea cup is.

This teacup originally came with a rose scented candle, and no matter how much I was it, the rose scent still lingers.

Not that I mind, I bought it because really enjoy the smell. But I can’t really afford to start a new hobby just yet (though I will eventually make candles. I just know it), and I don’t want to drink out of it.

It’s just such a pretty teacup though, so I have to use it for something.

And it just so happens I need a new pin cushion.

I’ve been thinking up ways to use up my fabric twine, and came across this basket tutorial from the Sew Witchy book by Raechel Henderson.

It has worked out perfectly for the sewing clips, but was a poor choice for my pins. I’m not sure why I thought it would be a good idea.

I also happen to have this sock that has lost its friend to either the washer or dryer.

So, I decided to combine all these things together, and make a pin cushion.

It is quite possibly the laziest and easiest thing I have made in a fair while. Once I had gathered all my materials, it took less than two minutes to put it all together.

Materials Used

  • Teacup
  • Single sock
  • Elastic hair tie/rubber ban
  • Toy stuffing (optional, but I think it helps with the overall shape)
  • Rice (I used 0.5 cups)

Instructions

Put a handful of toy stuffing in the sock, and push down to bottom

Pour enough rice into the sock so it is at least half way full (I used around half a cup)

Bunch the end of the sock together, and tie closed with hair tie/rubber band

Play with rice sock until it is a fullness and shape you like

Pop the rice sock  in the tea cup

Put in your pins

And that is literally it.

I’m off to get some sewing done, and hopefully not prick my fingers any more!

If you do decide to make this project, I would love to see your spin on it! You can email me at [email protected] or find me on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. Use hashtag #cozymagichome so I can find you easily!

Until next time, I hope the coziest, magical day.
